A new member of the club

My sister was diagnosed with Celiac today. Funny story though. She did not have to wait very long to have a biopsy done, but had to wait 3 weeks to see her doctor. Funny how that is. She is overwhelmed right now, but like almost all of us, is so thankful to know what is that made her so sick.

My thoughts are with you sis, I have loads of information for you when you are ready.

I know how she feels. I was devasted when my doctor told me. Even though most people would think that I was overreacting it was an awful feeling. Your sister is lucky though she has you for support. I didn't and really still don't have anyone close that knows that challenges of everyday living.

I hope that she starts feeling better soon.

Thoughts are with your sister. Fortuantely you have a lot of the information that she will soon need. I hope she starts to feel better now that she knows what's going on with her body.

I never went to a doctor. I don't need a medical professional to tell me that eating gluten was what was making me sick. My cousin was diagnosed with celiac, and sent all of us (his cousins) an email telling us. My symptoms were very similar to his, so I decided to give a gluten free diet a try--3 days was all it took for me to feel so much better.

My sister, my daughter, my older brother, my younger brother, his son, and his grandson have gone gluten free as well, and now our whole family is feeling better. We email each other with new things we find to eat, and places where we eat out and don't get sick. It helps to have that support network, and the fact that they are family is even better. (I guess, if we have to be celiac, at least we have each other to learn from)

Gosh I'm so overwhelmed right now too. I'm thankful though that I've awakened to the fact that I'm having problems with gluten. I wish your sister all the best! :)
